Art Diary: January and February 2022
Art Diary: January and February 2022
A very short diary entry this time to catch up on the status quo for my art project. Hopefully next time I will have a lot more to talk about.
Desktop Wallpapers
One of my resolutions this year was to make my art available to download as desktop wallpapers. You can find my first ten wallpapers here. I’ve tried to provide each wallpaper in all of the most common screen sizes. This collection are all beautiful mathematically generated patterns called cyclic cellular automata. The plan is to produce more collections like this covering lots of different themes and ideas. Stay tuned for more free wallpapers.
My New Photo Book
Another of my resolutions was to start a photo book and fill it with my art. I found a photo book that I like. The book itself is pretty low quality, but it has a beautiful marble pattern on the cover. The art I make for my wallpapers is perfect for the photo book, so it was very easy to start this project in tandem with the wallpapers on my blog.
The Future
Unfortunately I haven’t made much progress on the most important resolutions. The next step in improving my code and adding better support for things like three-dimensional graphics requires a pretty big overhaul of the code and it’s pretty daunting. I’ve spent some time trying to envision what I want to do, and I’m confident I now know what I want to do. I just need to make the time to sit down and go through every line of code and update it to the new paradigm. I did a similar large overhaul of my code when I added animation and that was very successful, so I’m confident this will work well. As I said it’s just intimidating to rewrite so much of my code.
Hopefully in two months time when I write my next diary entry, I’ll be talking about how I achieved this and the designs I’ll be able to draw with the new capabilities.
